RISE 2024
TWCA RISE (Recharge In Summer Enrichment) is back for another summer of exciting opportunities for your student! The TWCA staff has created academic, athletic, interest based, and fine arts opportunities during the summer break.
Our specialized offerings are the perfect opportunity for students to recharge, spiritually, intellectually, creatively, physically and socially, with their friends and teachers! Registration is NOW OPEN!
Please read through the general information for all the details.
GENERAL INFORMATION
All camps are located at The Woodlands Christian Academy unless noted in the camp description. All RISE camps will begin at 9am and end at 12pm unless otherwise noted in the camp description.
Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis, however, all courses must meet minimum enrollment established by program instructors. TWCA reserves the right to cancel programs that are under enrolled. In the event of a cancelled program, TWCA will ensure that your child has the opportunity to enroll in another offering or a refund will be issued if requested. If a camp reaches capacity due to multiple families registering at once, TWCA reserves the right to refund or move that student to an open camp of their choosing.
All students participating in RISE opportunities will be held to the standards of TWCA. Foul language, physical altercations, bullying, excessive horseplay, failure to follow teacher instruction, or any aggressive behavior towards students or staff will result in withdrawal without a refund.
Dress code will be specific to each camp. Swimsuits and tank tops are not permitted. Shirts may not be longer than shorts and clothing art/logos must be school appropriate
*Please Note: PreK must be at least age 4 at the time of camp and fully potty trained.
FEE SCHEDULE
A non-refundable, $50 deposit is required for each session purchased and will be applied towards the total camp fee. All fees are due at the time of registration.
A fee will be assessed for children not picked up by 12:10 p.m. Parents will be charged $15 per minute for late pick up.
REFUNDS
If a student is unable to attend camp, a written request must be submitted to rise@twca.net by May 12, 2024 to receive a refund. The $50 deposit is non-refundable. There will be no refunds issued after May 12, 2024.

Science Adventures

Art Masters for Little Picassos

Lower School Sports ReMix

Indulge in a sports sampler platter, offering girls and boys the chance to explore various sports throughout the week. Led by our expert TWCA coaches, campers will engage in age-appropriate and hands-on fundamentals of soccer, basketball, baseball/softball, and football/volleyball. This immersive experience allows campers to discover and solidify their athletic passions while learning the basics of each sport. To beat the summer heat, the camp will also incorporate refreshing water fun, ensuring a week packed with sports, exploration, and excitement!
Expedición a la Selva (Jungle Expedition)

Let’s explore the jungle together! We’ll learn about jungle eco-systems: the animals, plants, and other organisms that all fit together in this unique aspect of God’s Creation. The camp will be conducted entirely in Spanish (dual language/immersion model) and will include reading, writing, and vocabulary instruction as well as crafts within the content area. ¡Será muy divertido! (It will be fun!)

It's A Pirate's Life for Me

ARRGH you ready for Summer?! Ahoy, young buccaneers! Set sail for a swashbuckling adventure at our Pirate Camp. Join Captain Asi and her hearty crew for a week of treasure hunts, sword fighting, and seafaring fun. From crafting your own pirate flags to navigating through exciting obstacle courses, campers will embrace the pirate's life while building teamwork and creativity. This fun, hands-on camp will have you saying, “It’s a Pirate's life for me!”
Animal Kingdom Expedition

Join renowned educator and YouTube sensation, Orry Martin, "The Texas Snake Hunter," as he leads young animal and outdoor lovers alike through a Montgomery County hunt! With hands-on experiences, participants will interact with reptiles, amphibians, arthropods, mammals’, snakes, turtles, and various critters, gaining valuable skills in safely handling and snake relocation. Develop a personalized field guide to identify species and acquire the expertise to create nature documentaries.
Our little animal experts will travel around Montgomery County within camp hours.
PokÉmon Quest

Bubbles, Butters, and Bath Bombs, Oh My!

This DIY-inspired session promises a blend of fun and education, imparting life-long skills that promote healthy living through the use of nature's organic gifts. Participants will indulge in creating melt and pour soap bars, bath bombs, body butter, and lip gloss/lip balm. This is truly an all-girl experience as we spend time creating and making friends! The camp fee includes a personal DIY Body Care Kit, complete with an apron, gloves, and safety goggles for a comprehensive and enjoyable learning adventure.
Super Summer Science Spectacular

Embark on an exhilarating journey through Science Mania with High School Principal, Mr. Clark, and Mr. Sanders, the high school chemistry teacher! Ultimate Game Tournament

Pizza with a Twist
Ages: 4th - 6th

Calling all pizza lovers! Young chefs will learn the art of making delicious pizzas from scratch. They'll get hands-on experience in kneading dough, choosing toppings, and creating their own personalized pizzas all while building their own pizza recipe book. In addition to this culinary fun, we'll join for a Bible study session using Dannah Gresh’s devotional Lies Girls Believe: and the Truth That Sets Them Free. This will be an opportunity for girls to explore and discuss Biblical truths in an age-appropriate manner. We will journal and pray through these truths as we encounter God’s Word as a source of strength, guidance, and protection.
Crafting for everyone In-be-TWEEN!

A Hero’s Journey - Creative Writing Workshop

Consider this your call to adventure! Writers of all experience and skill levels are invited to embark on a week-long journey exploring the art and craft of creative writing. Along the way, writers will have the opportunity to read masterful mentor texts, tackle prompts designed to stir their creativity, give and receive constructive criticism, and use what they have learned to craft an original work of short fiction.

Game Makers Creation

Boys 2 Men: Sports and Outdoors Overnight
Ages: 5th - 8th

Slay the summer with fierce competitions and outdoor escapades with the middle school principal. From dodgeball to kickball, sling shot tournaments to local fishing, no matter your preference, this session has something for everyone. For the final event, an overnight camp out, right on campus, as we indulge in night competitions like capture the flag and flashlight tag. This is not just a camp; it's the making of Godly men, living our best summer lives, smelly and proud.
*Note schedule change: M/T/W 9-12, Thursday 6:30 pm-Friday morning pick up at 7:30 am. Dinner on Thursday and breakfast on Friday included in camp fee.
Stagecraft Showstoppers

For the Love of Woodworking
Ages: 7th - 12th
Cost: $1500 (2 Weeks)

Immerse yourself in the artistry of traditional woodworking through this intensive two-week course, where you will delve into the timeless techniques of crafting wooden masterpieces using only hand tools. Embark on a journey of craftsmanship, discover the beauty of woodworking traditions, and leave with the skills and tools to bring your own wooden creations to life. With a comprehensive exploration of various traditional woodworking tools, including hand planes, spoke shaves, draw knives, chisels, hand saws, squares, marking knives, marking gauges, and combination squares, they will develop both technical skills and an artistic sensibility, empowering them to create finely crafted pieces that showcase the natural beauty of wood.
*Fee includes 2 weeks of session and a complete set of fine woodworking hand tools. At the conclusion, students will get to take home all projects and their set of hand tools.

LEGO - Innovation and Creation

Middle School athletes will learn fundamental elements of running form and technical aspects of jumping and change of direction in a hands-on learning environment. The athletes will also learn the basic movement patterns involved in strength training while growing the capacity to take on more training: Ex. Pressing, pulling, lunging, squatting with proper technique under progressing loads only once athlete can model movement proficiency.
