It’s Homecoming week for The Woodlands Christian Academy Warriors and the stakes on the football field will be high.

While it is common that your school’s homecoming football game is an easy victory, this Friday, the Warriors face quite the opposite. Coach Hull and the boys in green are going to battle against the UIL 3A Hitchcock Bulldogs.

Hitchcock is 4-0 on the season and are coming into this game with lots of fire, looking to ruin the student section’s night. The Warriors are 2-1 on the season with both wins having taken place at home.

This game is gonna test both teams.

Can the Bulldogs continue their flawless record or will the Warriors defend their home on Homecoming week?

“We have just been trying to get the guys focused on the game in spite of all the other activities going on this week,” Coach Hull said. “You’ve got Hitchcock that is coming in here on Friday, they have a lot of speed and size in different spots. I think this is a good game for us to get prepared for District, and it should be a good challenge for us.”

This is the Warriors’ first out-of-division game. With 23 of the Warriors playing their last homecoming game, they will be hoping to leave their legacy and have their names remembered on their home field.

Newcomer Johnny Vidal, a junior, has mostly taken over the starting quarterback position. He has 190 yards so far over the three games. Senior running back Ryan Leslie has 607 total yards this season. Defensively, senior Josh Johnson has been locking it down in the secondary with two interceptions already this season. These playmakers will need to continue to step up not just this Friday, but for the rest of the year.

“We will have to play very well defensively in the secondary,” Hull said. “They have a lot of very talented receivers. They have a lot of speed at those receiver positions. They like to run the ball wide quite a bit and use their speed to try and get around the edges.”

With a game that is going to be tightly contested, the importance of home field — with a loud crowd — could be an important factor in the outcome of the game. The Warriors will be looking to lean on Warrior Nation for the extra support they need to earn what would be an impressive victory.
