The Woodlands Christian Academy is developing an integrated Pre-K through 12th grade STEAM experience that seamlessly weaves together Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics, and Ministry into the everyday instruction of our students. Dr. Mark Crenshaw, Director of STEAM, is leading this innovative approach enabling our students to apply their knowledge and skills in practical and creative ways, bridging the gap between theoretical learning and real-world problem-solving.

We believe in nurturing well-rounded individuals to not only excel in technical and creative fields but also to draw from spiritual insights to make a positive impact on society. Rooted in Biblical principals, this philosophy will undoubtedly inspire our students to explore new horizons and embrace the limitless possibilities that STEAM education offers.

The intersection of arts and sciences is where true innovation takes place, and there are many ways that TWCA’s STEAM Pre-K – 12th program will impact our students. Here is an at-a-glance top 10 ways that STEAM  will do this:

  1. Interdisciplinary Approach: The program emphasizes an interdisciplinary approach, integrating concepts from science, technology, engineering, arts, mathematics, and ministry to encourage holistic learning.

  2. Hands-On Learning: Students are encouraged to engage in hands-on, real-world project-based learning experiences that promote critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

  3. Technology Integration: Students have access to modern technology resources, including computers, tablets, and software, to explore topics like coding, robotics, and digital media.

  4. Engineering Challenges: Engineering design principles are introduced through various challenges and projects that encourage our students to design and build solutions to real-world problems.

  5. Arts and Creativity: The inclusion of arts within the program fosters creativity and innovation, with opportunities for students to explore visual arts, music and design.

  6. Advanced Science Mastery: The program offers advanced science and math courses to provide a strong foundation in scientific principles.

  7. Mathematics Mastery: With a strong emphasis on mathematics, including advanced math courses, students will develop analytical and mathematical reasoning skills.

  8. Collaborative Learning: Group projects and teamwork are encouraged to promote collaboration, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  9. STEAM Events: The Academy will be organizing STEAM-related events, such as science and engineering fairs, STEAM expos, and art exhibitions to showcase students' work.

  10. Extracurricular Opportunities: Beyond the classroom, students have access to STEAM-related extracurricular activities, internships/work-based learning experiences, clubs, and competitions to further their interests and skills.

TWCA’s STEAM program is part of the recently launched Warrior Fund – Building Our Pillars campaign running from Oct. 2nd to Nov. 3rd. With the Warrior Fund, we are building our core pillars, and the pillar of  “Intellectually” will specifically grow our STEAM program. We need your help in allowing us to continue to empower your students to embrace innovation, creativity, and critical thinking as they explore the wonders of God’s creation.
