Warrior Basketball Looks for a hot start in season opener
The Woodlands Christian Boys Basketball team has been a dominant force in previous years, and with a lot of new faces this season, they are looking to continue their success.
The spotlight previously has been on how graduates such as Austin Benigni, Chance Perkins, and Bakari LaStrap, to name a few, have led the Warriors, but now Warrior Nation looks to see who steps up into the leadership role this season.
Now seniors, Josh Bento, Wyatt Boeker, and Chase Edwards are ready to take the leadership role this season. Although Edwards is new to the program, he has been competing with a few of his Warrior teammates for a while now in AAU. The Warriors lost some height with last year's graduating class, so the offense will look a little different. The coaches are ready for this new start, and as for their opener, Coach Tocabens said that “[the Warriors] are just excited for another team to compete against and get the season off to a hot start.”
The season opener will be against Aggieland Homeschool on November 8th at 7:30 pm in the Daniel Student Life Center Gymnasium. Exactly 10 days later, the rivalry game that everyone has been waiting for takes place against Concordia Lutheran at home. Though new, Edwards knows “this is our biggest rivalry game of the year,” and he is excited because he has “never got to play against them before.”
Warrior Nation showed up big last year at Concordia, so expect a big crowd this go around, at home, from both schools. Come out and support the Warriors as they get their season started.
