Warrior Athletics Weekly - Lady Warrior Soccer starts 2023 off right
After a long a restful Holiday break, the Warriors were back in action this week on both the basketball court and soccer pitch.
On Tuesday, both the boys and girls basketball team travelled west to Katy St. John XXIII for the first district matchup in the new year. The Lady Warriors fell, 35-32, in overtime after a frantic and exhilarating finish to regulation play that saw three lead changes in the final 15 seconds of the game. The boys took over next and cruised to a 74-25 victory, improving their district record to 3-0 on the season. Their next district game is Thursday, January 5th at The Emery/Weiner School.
Over the break, the boys basketball team competed in two tournaments, finishing with a 3-1 record over the span of both weekends. They also picked up a bounce back victory over Concordia Lutheran, having fallen to the Crusaders earlier in the season.
Both soccer teams played their first games in nearly three weeks on Wednesday, with the Lady Warriors earning a huge 2-0 win over Second Baptist. Juniors Jocelyn Klages and Camille Young both found the back of the net as the Warriors pitched their second clean sheet - or shutout - of the season. The boys fell 3-0 but have a chance for a quick bounce back when they take on the Frassati Falcons, Friday, January 6th at 7 p.m. at TWCA. The girls also play at home on Friday against Frassati at 5:30 p.m.
