Each of the boys and girls soccer and basketball programs were in tournament action last weekend as district play kicks off for the Warriors.

On the court, the men’s basketball program went 3-2 at the Houston Christian Tournament, earning victories over The Village School, St. John’s and St. Pius. On Tuesday, led by Wyatt Boeker (15 points) and Nick Brashear (15 points), the Warriors notched an 82-43 win over Frassati to open up the 2022-2023 district campaign.

Having traveled to Johnson City to compete in a UIL tournament, the women’s basketball program picked up a hard-fought win over South San Antonio West Campus on Friday, and battled hard in each of their other games. Senior Kelly Gorman averaged 14 points, three rebounds and two steals per game in the action. The Lady Warriors fell to Frassati in their district opener on Tuesday, but are ready to bounce back against FBCA before the Christmas break.

Both the boys and girls soccer teams hit the road for the Tyler Invitational Tournament over the weekend as final preparation for district play. The boys team went 0-3-1 over the three day competition, but head coach Chris White was still pleased with his team’s performance.

“I though we played really well, regardless of the score lines in our games,” he said. “Our youth and inexperience cost us some mistakes, but overall, I’m satisfied with the way we played.”

The Lady Warriors also played in four games over the weekend, and despite not picking up a win, the team progressively got better each game, including a tense 0-1 loss to Brookhill on Saturday.

Now, it’s time for both Warrior teams to test their mettle in district play.
