What attracted you to TWCA? Great reputation, wholesome environment.

What’s been the best part of life at TWCA so far? The best part of life at TWCA so far has been the willingness of people to help when you have questions. The teachers around me, especially, have been incredible.

How do you see God working in you, your students and/or at TWCA? I see a special, Christ-centered school that has made me realize I have room to improve in my personal relationship with Christ. Our students and staff serve as daily reminders of how special this place is.

My wife, Debbie, and I own a dress shop called Crane’s Dress Boutique. Of course she does all the work as it is her true dream and passion. We sell mother-of-the-bride dresses, guest of wedding dresses, prom dresses and homecoming dresses.

Mr. Conner Svajda - HS History Teacher, Assistant Football Coach

Conner Svajda

What did you do before coming here? Any notable or interesting past jobs? Previously I worked at Leander Glenn High School where I taught AP Human Geography and I was the pass game coordinator and QB coach for the Grizzlies. Before that I spent a few years doing the same exact position and classes at Houston Lamar High school. While at Lamar I also taught in-school suspension and DAEP class structural behavior management.

How long have you worked in education? 4 years

What do you look forward to most about this school year? The opportunity to help grow the TWCA community and to see the expansion of this school. I picture this school and athletic community becoming not only a powerhouse in Houston, but state-wide.

What attracted you to TWCA? Coach Mac worked with me at Lamar. While there, Coach Sanders (volunteer coach) and Coach Mac were my best friends at Lamar. We were a perennial powerhouse throughout the state of Texas. We held the longest living district winning streak in the state. Coach Mac called me last year while I was in Austin and said, “Let’s get the band back together.” I am so happy to be here with my good friends and mentors.

What’s been the best part of life at TWCA so far? I was blessed to be here early on last May to start working with the players. The players this year have worked so hard and understand what is required to take this program to the next step. I am very appreciative of the relationships I’ve built and how people have helped with my transition, not only coming back to Houston, but moving from public to private.

How do you see God working in you, your students and/or at TWCA? God has opened this amazing door to be back home. I was recently engaged last March and my fiancé works as an engineer at Shell. The Lord is allowing me to speak freely about my faith here and I’m able to pour into my players and students. TWCA has a lot to teach me still, but I also am excited to bring my high energy and high strung expectations to this school and team. The Lord has blown me away every day this school year and it will be a continuous learning process.

What do you like to do for fun? On the weekends, you will find my fiancé and me on our boat on Lake Travis. I love to surf, wake board, wake surf and paddle board. Right now, I am in the chapter of my life where there is always a wedding to be in on the weekends.

Tell us something interesting about you/fun fact - I am a former football college athlete and a graduate from Texas A&M.
