The sweet aroma of Christ’s love was in the air last week, February 14-18, with the celebration of LOVE Week in high school, hosted by Godly Girls & Guys. The LOVE in LOVE Week is an acronym for Loving God, as One community of faith, that Values God and his word, and seeks to Encourage one another. In addition to school-sponsored activities, these students also participated in various challenges as part of "Matthew 25" facilitated through our partnership with World Vision.

The week began with a special sermon during Chapel that introduced the themes for each day and the different challenges they were called to complete. These activities were implemented in an effort to help them better understand what some children around the world endure daily, including eating rice and beans for dinner, drinking only water, spending a night sleeping on the floor, and wearing the same clothes to school two days in a row. In addition to these challenges were activities coordinated to get Warrior students to think deeply about what love really means resulting in student-driven conversations and interactions that proved to be incredibly meaningful and impactful.

The week hit a high note on Thursday with a powerful silent chapel. Our students showed tremendous vulnerability and trust in one another as they walked up one-by-one carrying a sign that shared some of their deepest thoughts and loneliest experiences, before flipping it over to reveal the truth and hope they found in Jesus. To close, senior Madison Frey shared an encouraging word about how God loves and redeems broken people. She explained the power and necessity of God’s love via salvation in Jesus Christ and the need for us to hold on to our promises through Him over our problems. Then, she invited everyone to pray these promises over our lives together in groups. God was stirring in the midst, as almost all students and faculty responded in one of the most transformative moments in chapel yet!

We are so thankful for these brave students who shared, and also for the culture they are helping shape at TWCA. Most of all, we praise God for his great love for us. We are blessed to be at a school that welcomes open conversation and leaves room for the Holy Spirit to work in our hearts and on our campus.
