Class of 2023 Celebrates College Decision Day With Record Breaking Results

TWCA celebrated the accomplishments of the Class of 2023 on College Decision Day. This year's senior class has set a new school record with $13,455,670 in merit-based scholarship dollars offered, averaging an impressive $145,000 per student.

The Class of 2023 has received an impressive 450 college acceptances, and we are thrilled to have two National Merit Finalists in this class - an achievement that reflects their dedication and hard work throughout their academic careers.

Fine Arts Extravaganza Showcases Student Creativity

Woodlands Christian recently held a Fine Arts Extravaganza in the Micah Academic Center, an exhibition showcasing the artistic talent of students PreK-12.

The three floors of the high school building were filled with art exhibits and performances, creating a vibrant and immersive experience for attendees. Over 600 pieces of art were on display, including intricate drawings, photographs, and mixed media pieces.

Senior Kaitlyn Olson Signs with Abilene Christian University Musical Theatre Program

The Woodlands Christian Academy held its Fine Arts College Signing Day for the Class of 2023, and it was a momentous occasion for Kaitlyn Olson who signed with Abilene Christian University. Theatre teacher, Mr. Williams, welcomed everyone to the event and thanked the administration, faculty and staff for their support of Fine Arts.

Standing Ovation for Night at the Opera: Auction & Gala Raises $2.7M for New Fine Arts Building

The annual Auction & Gala was held on Saturday, April 29, 2023, with presenting sponsor Foster Fence and Capstone Society sponsors Marabou Midstream Services and Team Reed Enterprises, Inc. The event, "A Night at the Opera," was chaired by Amy and Tony Torres and raised an astounding $2.7 million dollars.

The funds raised from the event will go toward building a new Fine Arts Educational Building and Outdoor Amphitheater, which will benefit our students for years to come.

Spelling Bee Results 2023

Congratulations to all grade level Spelling Bee participants! Our TWCA Spelling Bees took place on March 22nd and were a huge success. The top 3 spellers in 5th-8th grade advanced to the Spell Off on April 12th to determine the overall top 5 places for our school. 

We are so proud of all our 1st-8th graders who competed! There was incredibly stiff competition with each grade level going from 7-28 rounds including several tie breakers to determine our final winners. All of our students did an amazing job! Read more for the full list of results.

Computer Science Students Compete in the Best of Texas Competition

Woodlands Christian Computer Science students recently had the opportunity to showcase their knowledge and skills by participating in the Best of Texas Contest. Our students competed in the Computer Science subject test against 3A public and 5A private schools. The contest consisted of three rounds of tests and the scores were submitted online.

At the end of the contest, the top teams and individuals in each grade level and classification were awarded plaques and certificates. Our Woodlands Christian students showed their determination and hard work, and we are proud of their achievements. Great job, Warriors!

Lower School and Middle School Students Compete in Math Olympics

Each year our 3rd-8th graders participate in the ACSI Math Olympics. The first level takes place in our classrooms with the top 3 students in each category and grade level advancing to the Area competition.

The Area competition took place on Wednesday, February 8, 2023. Students’ scores were compared to other private schools in the area, including schools in Kansas, Ohio and South Dakota to determine the top 5 winners. Out of 9 participating schools and 324 students in total, TWCA earned 14 ribbons for 1st-5th place and 5 medals for 1st place winners who also received an 85% or higher.

Woodlands Christian Dominates Sci://Tech Biotechnology Competition

On Saturday, February 25, The Woodlands Christian Academy Biotech Team competed in the SCI://TECH Biotechnology Competition at Lone Star College. With 134 students from eight area high schools, including science and engineering academies, students competed in pairs using DNA technology to solve a real-world problem. Students had to determine the identity of a microbe that contaminated the water supply and infected 10 people at a sustainable living apartment complex. The TWCA team dominated the competition, taking home 5 of the 9 awards.

Seniors Worship at Passion Conference

Twelve seniors, along with Coach Earle and Ms. Mitchell, traveled to Ft. Worth for an incredible fellowship experience. Passion conference took place on December 2-30, 2022, with approximately 13,000 students in attendance. Designed to ignite the faith of college students and high school seniors, Passion is a movement to get students living for God.

This marks the seventh year Coach Earle took a group of seniors to Passion, to inspire students about what college ministry could look like, and to remind them they aren’t alone in their faith. Students got to meet up with 11 TWCA alumni who were also attending the conference.

High School Students Work Together in Hopes of Winning Gingerbread House Competition

The Gingerbread House Competition is one of our most highly anticipated holiday traditions for high school students at TWCA. With each passing year, the structures get more extravagant and lavish than the last – and this year was no different. Split up into Chapel small groups with a senior and faculty leader, students planned for weeks – the theme, execution and design.

NJHS Inducts New Members for 2022-2023

Congratulations to our new National Junior Honor Society members for 2022-2023! NJHS is a national organization that promotes the values of scholarship, service, leadership, character and citizenship. Led by Mrs. Whitson and Mr. McNeese, NJHS elevates TWCA's commitment to these values and develops middle schoolers who are well-rounded student leaders in our school and community.

Theatre Students Place Third at TAPPS Districts One Act Play Competition

Congratulations to our high school theatre students who earned third place in the TAPPS District One Act Play competition! Despite several students being out sick the week leading up to the competition, this team did an amazing job and came in third place, with several students receiving individual awards. The team performed “Clue” for all of high school, their parents and staff and had the crowd laughing out loud! Well done, Warriors!

New NHS Members Inducted

On October 5, 2022, National Honor Society inducted several new members in a ceremony held in the Ruth Auditorium. Students were nominated based on their scholarship, character, service, and leadership. We are so proud of these students and the ways they model the Warrior Way!

TWCA Celebrates Homecoming 2022

Homecoming is a special time at Woodlands Christian, where all three schools - lower, middle and high, get to participate in festivities and show their school spirit! After a fun-filled week of themed dress days, Burgers & Bingo, Silent Disco and much more, the week culminated with an all-school pep rally, football game and dance.

Group of Students New Members

Congratulations to our newly inducted Science National Honor Society members! In order to qualify, participants must maintain a 4.0 overall grade point average and a 4.5 G.P.A. in science courses, including at least one AP science course. Students submitted applications to the science department to be considered for membership. SNHS will help facilitate campus-wide blood drives, provide science tutoring to students in 5th - 12th grade, and represent TWCA in the EfTA Sci://Tech Exposition.

Woodlands Christian Seniors Named National Merit Scholarship Program Semifinalists

Two students from The Woodlands Christian Academy have been named as Semifinalists in the 2023 National Merit Scholarship Program. Avery Buck and Seth Culberson placed among the top 16,000 scorers of the over one million students who entered the competition by taking the 2021 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®) and represent less than one percent of all U.S. high school seniors.

Student and Faculty Hug and High Five at Sorting Ceremony

Middle school students were pumped up on the first day of school, partially because it was the first day, but more importantly because they were anxious to find out their destiny at the first ever Sorting Ceremony! Introducing a new house system in middle school, 5th-8th graders were randomly assigned to five different houses, with each house containing a mix of all four grades. Designed to create an increasingly positive and dynamic school climate that celebrates excellence, fosters school spirit, builds and strengthens relationships, and promotes a culture of belonging for all - the five houses each have their own name, color, symbol and characteristics, with house members shaping distinct personalities and values over time.

The Woodlands Christian Academy is proud to announce the Valedictorian and Salutatorian for the Class of 2022 — Dominic Spahr and Serafina Cianflone. Dominic was named a Commended Student by the National Merit Scholarship Program and will attend The University of Texas at Austin - Cockrell School of Engineering Honors Program. Serafina will attend ivy league — The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

Five students stand with their awards

On April 28, 2022, the Rotary Club of The Woodlands honored a number of TWCA high school students as Student of the Year.

Teachers recommended 1-2 students per grade-level, one girl and boy. This award goes to students who are well-rounded, active community service participants, and are known for putting “service above self.” The two seniors were also awarded a $1,000 scholarship.

Spelling Bee students stand with ribbons in library

Congratulations to our students who participated in the TWCA Spelling Bee and Spell-Off! On April 13, students in grades 1-8 participated in the grade-level Spelling Bee. The top 6-7 spellers for each grade received an ACSI certificate and t-shirt. The top 4 spellers received a ribbon, and the top 3 spellers in 5th-8th grade advanced to the school-wide Spell-Off. After 15 rounds, two tiebreakers, using both the published and unpublished word lists, the group narrowed to identify the spelling champion. We are so proud of our Warriors! Congratulations on all your hard work.

Lower School Students Place in 2022 Conflict Resolution Bookmark Art Contest

Lower school students learned about conflict resolution in Art Integration with Mrs. Goedeke. She challenged them to relate what they were learning to their own life experiences through art. Students designed a bookmark that was submitted to the Dispute Resolution Center of Montgomery County for their 2022 Conflict Resolution Day Bookmark Art Contest. With over 800 entries from schools across Montgomery Country, four of our students impressed the judges with their creativity and peacemaking message. We are so proud of our Warriors!

Students testing in auditorium during Math Olympics

Students in 3rd - 8th grade participated in the annual ACSI Math Olympics. The first round took place in classrooms with the top three students in each category, per grade level, advancing to the Area competition. On Thursday, February 24th, students gathered in the Ruth Auditorium to compete in the Area competition. In total, there were 252 participants from seven schools, reaching as far and wide as Kansas, Kentucky and Ohio. Scores were compared to the other private schools to determine the top five winners for the Area competition.

Godly Girls & Guys Host LOVE Week

The sweet aroma of Christ’s love was in the air last week, February 14-18, with the celebration of LOVE Week in high school! Hosted by Godly Girls & Guys, they started planning LOVE Week (formerly Spirituality) back in September at the G3 retreat at Carolina Creek. Stemming from their vision and mission, LOVE Week was created as a week dedicated to LOVING God as ONE community of faith, that VALUES God and his word, and seeks to ENCOURAGE one another, and that they did!

The National Honor Society recently held officer elections for the 2022-2023 school year. National Honor Society officers work above and beyond the service of regular members by attending additional meetings, organizing and leading service events, all while maintaining good character and academic grades throughout the year. Students Attend Creative Arts Fair

TWCA students meandered about the STEAM lab in the Micah on Monday, February 7, 2022, to explore elective options at the Creative Arts Fair for the upcoming school year. They tried their hand at painting, videography and operated robots to see if they might want to take classes like Art, Broadcasting or Robotics & Coding. VOCE put on a live performance to show students what the new choir program is all about while Mr. Wilkinson tapped on his snare drum to pique interest in Drumline & Band.

Austin Benigni dribbles between his legs at a photo shoot

The TWCA boys basketball team earned a hard-fought 67-55 win against cross-town rival Concordia Lutheran on Tuesday, November 16th at Concordia Lutheran High School in Tomball.

Senior Austin Benigni, who recently signed his letter of intent to play basketball for the Naval Academy, led the Warriors with 23 points, seven rebounds and seven assists.

Warrior Academic and Speech Team Win 4th Place in 4A Division at TAPPS State Meet

On April 2-3, The Warrior Academic and Speech Team competed in Waco, Texas at the TAPPS State Academic and Speech Meet.  In just the second year of participation in this event, Woodlands Christian earned 3rd place in the 4A division at the State Meet. Congratulations to Brett Odom, Ben Gunthorpe, Michael Singh, Bea Romero, Catherine Berger, Rio Robertson and Maclain Ruffner, who earned individual awards.
