Position Title: Director of Communications
Reports To: Chief Advancement Officer
Status: Full-Time

Position Purpose:
The Director of Communications is responsible for developing, continually reevaluating, and implementing comprehensive, integrated, and effective marketing strategies to promote the mission, vision, and ends goals of The Woodlands Christian Academy (TWCA).
Essential Functions
All members of the Senior Leadership Team/Directors/Assistant Principals/Deans carry the following responsibilities:

Leadership:
- Thoroughly understand the history, culture, traditions, constituencies, educational philosophy, marketing, and communications activities of TWCA. Develop a thorough understanding of “The Warrior Way.”
- Partner with Management to support strategies and plans that advance TWCA and drive increased engagement with prospective and current constituencies.
- Partner with Management to support the creation, design, production, and distribution of all aspects of TWCA’s print and electronic communications, ensuring the consistency of TWCA’s brand and logo.
- Collaborate with administrative, academic, and athletic departments in articulating their purpose and ongoing work.
- Ensure brand and messaging quality and consistency and establish guidelines to apply across all departments and events at the school and among professional and volunteer leadership.
- Supervise and direct the communications team by providing vision and expectations of work performance that supports the activities and defined goals of the Communications Department.
- Partner with the Enrollment Department in the design strategies and implementation of plans to increase student applications and maintain prospective student and family interest.
- Partner with the Development Department in the design of strategies and implementation of plans to capitalize on increased TWCA’s visibility and clear branding to drive increased support.
- Provide written performance evaluations of the Communications team.
- Regularly attend and participate in TWCA functions.
- Oversee the annual planning and budgeting for the Communications Department in accordance with the Business Office policies and procedures. This includes bidding out production of materials when appropriate to outside vendors.
Strategic and Administrative:
- Support TWCA’s mission, vision, and ends goals as set forth by the Governance Board.
- Lead the day-to-day operations of the Communications Department using effective planning, interpersonal, and project management skills.
- Complete key strategic plan goals outlined and assigned in the current TWCA Strategic Plan.
- Plan for and deploy digital activities: website, online campaigns, email, social media, videography campaigns and testimonials, and digital content production.
- Create and execute a plan that regularly places TWCA in local media. Manage all messaging in the media.
- Provide support for TWCA events and administrative jobs as requested.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate policies, procedures, and systems for the Communications Department to ensure they remain consistent with TWCA policies.
- Support the Development Department in the execution and production of TWCA Annual Report.
- Engage in professional development opportunities to remain current on trends related to independent school communications, emerging social media, and effective marketing and advertising strategies.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing/Communications, Business, or related field is required.
- Leadership experience in marketing and communications, preferably in an independent school or other non-profit organization.
- Ability to communicate and inspire with a vision for quality, ministry, and growth.
- Highly relational with students, parents, and staff; a community builder.
- Customer service oriented – whether internal or external clients.
- Outstanding speaking, writing, and editing skills.
- Deep knowledge of the principles of marketing and communications and fluency in using social media effectively.
- Ability to develop, monitor, and adhere to budgets and production schedules.
- Ability to create print materials using current software programs.
- Demonstrated success in bringing regular, positive media attention to an organization.

- Supervise the teaching/coaching process to continuously improve the academic process and integrate a biblical worldview in each Middle School classroom.
- Maintain student discipline consistent with school policies; monitor students' adherence to established school rules and maintain accurate student attendance records.
- Oversee the coordination and establish guidelines for the co-curricular and extracurricular activity programs of the Middle School. Assist in the planning and presentation of school assemblies and programs, maintain a comprehensive calendar of school events, and keep the entire school community informed of various division programs and activities.
- Confer with teachers, students, and parents on student management, positive behavior plans, and discipline issues.
- Establish and maintain communication with staff, students, and parents and encourage positive parent-teacher-student relationships and community and parent involvement.
- Assist in planning for and leading the academic, social, and spiritual transition of students from Lower School to Middle School and from Middle School to High School.

Coordinator of STEAM

Position Purpose:
The STEAM Coordinator is responsible, under the direction of the Middle School/High School Principal, for providing direction and leadership in the development of a comprehensive STEAM curriculum and programs for first through twelfth grades.
Essential Functions:
- Developing, planning, managing, supporting, organizing, and implementing STEAM programs for 1st through 12th grades
- Providing direction and leadership in the development of a comprehensive STEAM curriculum.

Leadership:
- Support and execute the vision for the ACE Department.
- Collaborate with the ACE Department for maximum effectiveness.

- Monitor school calendar to keep abreast of conflicts with ACE schedules and update ACE team as needed.
