Position Title:            Assistant Head of Lower School

• Lead in curriculum coordination, development, implementation, and evaluations to ensure academic excellence and adherence to educational standards.

• Assist in recruiting, hiring, and onboarding new faculty and staff members.

• Partner with the Assistant Head of Lower School in planning and executing new initiatives contributing to the school's long-term success.
• Partner with the Director of Curriculum and Instruction in reviewing, revising, and aligning the Lower School curriculum for all subjects vertically and horizontally.
• Assist with planning and implementing professional development programs for teachers.
• Supervise the teaching/coaching process to continuously improve the academic process and integrate a biblical worldview in all aspects of the curriculum.
• Planned and led the successful academic transition of students from Lower School to Middle School.
• Engage in professional development opportunities to remain current on trends in education and innovative new approaches to administration and curriculum development.

• Master's degree in education or related field
• Minimum of three years' experience in curriculum development and/or administration.
• Highly organized and able to manage a range of objectives and execute multiple objectives concurrently.

Position Purpose:

The Lower School teacher will implement a rigorous academic program that aligns with The Woodlands Christian Academy’s Christ-centered mission and will provide opportunities for maximum student development and growth through developmentally appropriate learning experiences. The teacher will design and implement a wide variety of instructional strategies that will accommodate various learning styles in accordance with the school curriculum and mission statement. The teacher under the direction of the Head of Lower School, is responsible for teaching assigned content, managing student behavior, supporting students’ emotional and academic needs, evaluating student learning profile and learning needs, and establishing class activities, lessons, routines, and procedures to provide the optimal learning of all students. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Teaches content and skills in assigned content area(s).
• Implement instructional activities that contribute to a positive environment where students are actively engaged in meaningful learning experiences

Position Purpose:

The Middle School Counselor serves as a vital support for students in grades 5–8, helping them grow spiritually, emotionally, socially, and academically in alignment with the school’s mission. This role involves direct student support, teacher and parent collaboration, and the development of programs that nurture a Christ-centered school culture of empathy, integrity, and resilience.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide individual and small group counseling focused on social and emotional development.
• Support students experiencing challenges such as anxiety, peer conflicts, grief, or family changes while integrating biblical principles of hope and grace.
• Guide students in understanding personal strengths, decision-making, and healthy coping skills.
• Assist students with conflict resolution, self-regulation, and building healthy relationships.
• Refer students to external counseling services or specialists when needed and maintain communication with families.

• Collaborate with teachers to identify students needing academic or emotional support.
• Support students in developing study skills, time management, and goal setting.
• Assist with planning student schedules, class placements, and transitions from Lower School to Middle School and from Middle School to High School.

• Serve as a resource for parents on adolescent development, parenting strategies, and mental health topics.

• Facilitate parent meetings and communicate regularly regarding student progress or concerns.

• Develop and lead character education lessons and small groups that align with biblical values and the school’s mission.

• Organize workshops or parent education events on adolescent issues, faith integration, and mental health awareness.

• Master’s Degree in School Counseling, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field.

• Knowledge of adolescent development, mental health issues, and counseling techniques.

• Player Safety: Ensure all players practice safe playing techniques, proper warm-ups, and cool-downs, and maintain a focus on player well-being.
• Communication: Maintain open and positive communication with athletes, parents, faculty, and administration. Provide timely updates on team performance, practice schedules, and any concerns.
• Mentorship: Serve as a role model for athletes, encouraging character development both on and off the field. Emphasize integrity, respect, and faith in daily interactions with players.
• Program Growth: Assist in organizing and promoting volleyball events, camps, and tournaments. Help develop a culture of excellence within the program.

• Strong knowledge of volleyball, including game strategy, rules, and individual skill development.
• Previous coaching experience (preferably in a school or youth sports environment) is highly desired.

• Passion for working with young athletes, fostering their growth both in sports and in character.

Position Title:             Substitute School Nurse 

Reports To:                Head Nurse

Status:                         Temporary

Work Schedule:       M-F (7:30AM-4:00PM)

Position Purpose:

The Substitute Nurse is responsible, under the direction of the Head Nurse, for administering first aid, dispensing medications, evaluating symptoms, and treating students.  

• Administer medications as prescribed
• Communicate with parents regarding injuries, illnesses, and other visits to the nurse as needed 
• Communicate with administrators regarding student health

Qualifications:

• Current RN or LVN license 
• Experience as a school nurse preferred 
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
• Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, parents, and the public. 
• Ability to independently supervise students.
• Ability to handle emergency situations and communications for the safety of the students and school.
