CURRICULAR DISTINCTIVES

TWCA offers a rigorous college-preparatory curriculum, with a throroughly Christian approach. With an academic Bible class at every level, students are required to study the Scriptures in their entirety on an academic level and to integrate biblical insights into every area of study. History and English follow a chronological approach with emphasis on insight into the human condition through time-honored tests. The English department leads the emphasis on writing across the curriculum as well as a common methodology for instruction in content areas. The Science and Math departments sequentially build skills through practical and theoretical approaches. The Foreign Language department currently offers Spanish and Latin.

TWCA offers both dual college credit and Advanced Placement courses. Current AP courses include Government, Calculus, English (Language and Literature), and Art History. Standardized test-taking skills are taught at all grade-levels.

SPIRITUAL GROWTH

TWCA teaches the bible but is not associated with any one church or denomination. Each day includes prayers, devotions, and Scripture memory. All students participate in weekly chapel programs for a time of prayer, worship, engaging drama and Bible study. Upper school students receive individual mentoring through the advisory program and participate in Teen Leadership classes. Students participate in local and foreign missions.

STUDENT LIFE

Students are encouraged to discover their God-given talents through involvement in clubs and organizations such as Student Council, National and Junior National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, journalism, band, drama, and foreign language clubs.

TWCA embraces a full-participation philosophy to develop physical skills, learn teamwork and establish a lifetime habit of physical fitness. Students may participate on a team sport of their choice or are required to attend an off-season fitness program. Sports currently offered at TWCA include football, volleyball, basketball, softball, tennis, track, swimming, golf and cheerleading.
